Bench Warrant For Sosu's Arrest Not Because Of Budget Debate - NPP MP

A bench warrant was issued on Monday for the arrest of the Member of Parliament for Madina, Francis-Xavier Sosu.

This follows his absence from court Monday morning.

It may be recalled that the MP landed himself in a legal battle with the Police after he led a demonstration in his constituency, protesting over bad roads.

The Police sought to arrest him for leading the protest which according to them caused unlawful acts.

The MP has however failed to attend all the hearings at the Kaneshie District Court citing Parliamentary duties; hence a bench warrant for his arrest.

Meanwhile, the MPs are set to debate the approval of the 2022 budget statement and rumors are rife that the bench warrant was issued to reduce the number of NDC MPs in Parliament.

But Member of Parliament (MP) for Afigya Kwabre North, Mr. Collins Adomako Mensah says it will be wrong to make such an allegation.

"...People will read meaning into this but we all know that this issue has been going on in court for some time...we should not link this to the approval of the budget," he urged
