Controversial Ghanaian football administrator Alhaji Karim Grusah has blasted former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan for sharing his opinion on the contentious penalty awarded to the Black Stars in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.

Gyan, capped 109 times with 51 goals for the West African powerhouse, told Andy Obeng Kwaku in an exclusive interview on Asempa FM’s SportsNite show that Daniel Amartey went down too easily.

Senegalese referee Maguette N’Diaye awarded a 32nd-minute penalty to the Black Stars in the all-important decider between the four-time African champions and the Rainbow nation.

“The cameras in the stadium weren’t enough but those on the field of play are in a better position to make a judgment on it. But, to me, the infringement looked very casual. The player went down very easily but the referee was very very close to the incident so he can make his decision on the field but for me and where I sit, I think Amartey went down very easily. I’m just expressing my opinion but those on the field of play can make a better judgment. I think it was a 50-50 decision. The game was also played under high-intensity pressure and that could also affect the decision of the referee,” the former Sunderland and Stade Rennais forward said in the interview.

But, the King Faisal Babies bankroller has pounced on the 2010 FIFA World Cup star for his sharing his opinion and even went further to describe Gyan as an ungrateful person.

“Asamoah Gyan is an ungrateful person and a pretender,” Alhaji Grunsah told Atinka FM.

“He won’t even get the opportunity to become a ball boy again with the Black Stars. He should stop talking about the penalty against South Africa if he has no better things to tell Ghanaians,” he added.
