Ghana Places Travel Ban On Malta, South Korea and Israel

Ghana has placed a travel ban on all passengers going to or coming from Malta with effect from Monday, 20 December 2021 due to the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 virus.

A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration said the government of Ghana does not recognise any vaccine certificate from Malta.

Ghana has also placed a 14-day temporary travel restriction on all travellers arriving from South Korea effective today, Monday, 20 December 2021.

The same restriction has been placed on all travellers arriving from Israel save exceptional humanitarian cases or official trips.

The statement said permission would have to be obtained from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional integration in exceptional cases.

The reason for the ban on South Korea and Israel was not stated.
