Teye Nyaunu: Foreign Invasion Demonstrated Against Me

The Member of Parliament for Lower Manya Krobo, Michael Teye Nyaunu has described as unfortunate a planned demonstration that hit him yesterday by members of his constituency. Inasmuch as he found the reasons against which the demonstration happened as flawed, Hon Teye Nyaunu said the demonstrators were bused from other constituencies to the Lower Manya Krobo constituency. Members of the Lower Manya Krobo Constituency branch of the NDC on Monday May 30, 2011, embarked on a demonstration against their MP over what they termed as his unacceptable behavior and utterances against the President. The demonstrators called on Mr Nyaunu to resign as his 16 years in office as an MP has seen no development in the constituency. But reacting to their claims on Xfm 95.1, Mr Teye Nyaunu chided the premise for the demonstration, saying, it rather exposes their ignorance about the system. In his estimation, he has served the people of the constituency judiciously for the past 16 years, adding, that that is why they continue to retain me in parliament, so if they say I have not done anything, then the person is nave about my constituency. Mr Teye Nyaunu is convinced members from other constituencies were hired to join in the demonstration as he claimed about 90 per cent of his constituency executives did not take part in the demonstration. He said its surprising, all my constituency executives were not involved, and 90% of the branch executives were not involved. So who is organizing this demonstration, is it Lower Manya Constituency or foreign invasion, that is the question I am asking. If they are saying that my constituents dont like me, it is an insult to the integrity of my constituents, because they know my attitude they know my value system, and they have retained me in parliament for four consecutive times; so they know the substance I am made of and that is why they like me. Anybody who says my constituents dont like me is begging the question. It is a mere propaganda. In a related development, Hon Teye Nyaunu has revealed the Nana Konadu for President 2012 campaign team is unperturbed about leaked campaign messages in the public domain. The Enquirer newspaper has been publishing a series of the teams messages directed at delegates captured on tapes in recent times. In the said tapes, MP Michael Teye Nyaunu was captured privately encouraging delegates of the governing party to vote against President Mills because of his failing eyesight. He is also heard on another tape telling delegates that the Asantehene has endorsed Mrs Rawlings. The Asantehene has subsequently denied the claim. Even though Hon Teye Nyaunu insists members of the team are unfazed at these developments, he said the team has been compelled to change the style and strategy of the campaign. He suspects governments involvement in the leakages of the delegates messages, however adding, at any rate issues that have been raised concern governance. So I am saying that it wasnt meant for public domain but internal affairs, if they have done it, well, it suits whoever interest that it is being done. I cant thumbprint into the wind, but once its turned like this, Ill suspect governments hands in it but I cant point exactly.
