E/R: Ghana Gas To Build Doctors Bungalows In Kyebi

Ghana National Gas Company has cut sod for the construction of two separate three-bedroom doctors' bungalows for the Kyebi Government Hospital in the Abuakwa South Municipality of the Eastern Region.

This is to help solve accommodation challenges facing the hospital.

Many newly posted doctors are compelled to turn down posting to the area due to the challenge of accommodation.

It is as a result of this that Ghana Gas decided to start the project for the health personnel to enable them to provide essential health services to the people.

Speaking at the grounds breaking ceremony, Municipal Chief Executive for Abuakwa South Akosua Asabea Annor said quality healthcare is anchored on the kind of dignity and respect society gives to healthcare personnel coupled with the availability of medical equipment, adding that the lack of accommodation has been a hindrance to quality healthcare in the municipality.

She believes the provision of the doctors' flats will help reduce the accommodation challenges of the Kyebi Government Hospital and ensure quality healthcare for the people.

Assistant Manager in charge of Project for Ghana Gas and the Project Director Humphrey Senam assured that they will work assiduously to complete the project within six months and called for cooperation.

Speaking on behalf of the Okyenhene, the Guantuahemaa for Akyem Abuakwa and a Board Member for Ghana Gas, Nana Adwoa Esaah Bene, said the construction of the doctors' bungalow will end the syndrome of no accommodation, a situation which scares many medical officers away from taking appointments in the area.

The Hospital’s Administrator, Divine Nartey, said medical staff are still struggling with accommodation, making their work very difficult, but added that in spite of the challenges, personnel had dedicated themselves to duty.
