Such Arrant Nonsense! You Want To Speak To Who? Are You President? - Former NPP MP Scolds Baker-Vormawor

Former NPP Member of Parliament(MP) for Manhyia North, Collins Owusu Amankwah has taken a swipe at organizers of the planned June 4th demo over their requests to the Police for permit to carry weapons and use private security during the demonstration.

The organizers sent a letter to the Police stating, "we will bring our own security company to provide protection to demonstrators. All weapons held by demonstrators or by the contracted security personal will be for personal protection only; and all weapons will be duly permitted in accordance with the Arms and Ammunitions Act, 1972 (NRCD 9) e) Proposed route and destination: We expect that the Demonstrators will gather at Circle".

They also demand to go to the State-owned media to address the nation.

“The procession will move from Circle to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, where the Protestors will make a demand a slot on GTV to speak directly to the Nation and lay out our grievances, in accordance with Article 55(11), which guarantees fair opportunity to Ghanaians to present their programmes to the public through equal access to the state-owned media," the organizers namely Captain Smart, Okatakyie Afrifa and FixtheCountry Movement leader, Oliver Baker-Vormawor specified in their letter.

Touching on the issue on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" Thursday morning, Collins Owusu Amankwah believed the organizers are harboring ulterior motives, as such, their demands should not be countenanced.

Whiles noting his love for peaceful demonstration, the NPP MP doubted if the organizers of the planned June 4th protest really want peace.

Hon. Owusu Amankwah, in a state of shock, questioned the motivation behind the organizers' audacious demands.

"You want to go to GBC; you want to speak to the country. Are you a President? President Baker-Vormawor, such arrant nonsense! Can you imagine? You want to speak to who?" he asked.
