Don't Leave Environmental And Climate Challenges On The Shoulders of Environmental Scientist Alone - Bagbin

The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, has said it will be difficult for the country to successfully pursue economic development and growth agenda if the citizens leave environmental and climate challenges to environmental scientists alone to bear or solve.

The Speaker has therefore called for strong partnerships to deal with the issue of environmental degradation in the country.

He made these comments when he led this year's tree seedlings planting exercise in Parliament under the Green Ghana Day observation in the country today.

According to the Speaker, saving the planet is not a partisan political issue. Rt. Hon. Bagbin therefore urged all Ghanaians to join the efforts at protecting the environment and our planet no matter the political persuasion or belief of each individual.

Rt. Hon. Alban Kingsford Bagbin advised the public not to consider the annual Green Ghana exercise as only a tree seedlings planting but a Tree Growing exercise to enable the country fully enjoy the benefits of green environment.

"There is a nexus between the extent to which we protect the environment and our growth and development," the Speaker stated.

The Speaker emphasized that, "tree planting is about the existence of life, the earth and all living things on it."
