NHIA Chief Executive Tours Eastern Region

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Chief Executive, Hon. Dr. Okoe-Boye on Monday, July 20th, 2022 continued his nationwide tour to the Eastern Region.

His team's two-day visit was to get acquainted with the concerns, opportunities and challenges available to staff of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

On day one, he visited the Regional Coordinating Council, Regional NHIA office and the Suhum district NHIS office.

At the Regional and District offices, Dr. Okoe-Boye interacted with staff and reassured them of improving their general well-being.

"We are committed to working hard to ensure that you are happy to improve efficiency. The regions will be given autonomy to flourish and I urge you to connect the output to push Universal Health Coverage (UHC) attainment."

"We are willing to listen to you on the ground. Field operations will improve to ensure district offices' ownership of the NHIS."

He emphasized the need for staff to intensify mass awareness creation to renew public confidence in the NHIS.

"Inform the public about the goodness of the NHIS. Make NHIS more relevant and more efficient."

The Chief Executive decried extra monetary demands (Copayments) by the NHIA credentialed healthcare providers for services covered by the NHIS and promised that it will soon be a thing of the past.
