The Sene West District Assembly has distributed items and cash worth GHC 65,000 to thirty-six (36) Persons With Disability on 29thJuly, 2022 at the forecourt of the Assembly.

The beneficiaries made up of twenty seven (27) males and Nine (9) females received items such as wheel chairs, deep freezers, soap making materials, shoe making materials, fufu pounding machine, as well as support in Apprenticeship, medical care, petty trading, farming and animal husbandry.

In a brief speech, the District Chief Executive, Hon John Nyarba indicated that the procured items are from the 5% deduction of the disability fund from the Assembly Common Fund. He reiterated that because beneficiaries cannot benefit from the fund twice, advised them to use the items and cash for it intended purpose to improve their livelihood.

The District Director of Social Welfare and Community Development, Mr. Owusu Appaiahnoted that during the monitoring exercise conducted by the department, some of the beneficiaries were using the items presented to them previously to empower themselves.

He indicated that monitoring of beneficiaries would be carried out to ascertain their level of improvement and therefore charged them to put the items to good use to enhance themselves.
