UTV Reporter, Mark Byron Wins CIIG Insurance Reporter For 2021

A Journalist working with United Television (UTV), an Accra-based media outlet, Mark Byron Della-Dem, has won the coveted Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana (CIIG) Insurance Reporter of the Year Award for 2021.

Mr Della-Dem, who has over three years of experience in reporting on Insurance issues, was presented with his award at the second edition of the CIIG awards on Saturday, July 23, 2022.

He joined UTV about seven years ago and has worked tirelessly to establish himself as one of Ghana's finest journalists.

About the awards ceremony

The Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana successfully held the second edition of the Insurance Excellence Awards on Saturday at the Labadi Beach hotel.

The ceremony saw individuals and organisations that have excelled in the practice of insurance over the period recognised and awarded.

Other stakeholders such as journalists who have excelled in their reportage on insurance and sensitization of the masses were also recognised and awarded.

Speaking at the Awards Ceremony themed: ‘Celebrating excellence in Ghana’s insurance industry’, President of the CIIG, Tawiah Ben-Ahmed indicated that the CIIG Insurance Excellence Awards is to ensure that insurance practices and services in Ghana are of the highest possible standards and conform to internationally accepted best practices to drive sustained growth of the insurance industry to the benefit of clients.

He explained that “The awards scheme is to recognise the enormous contribution of deserving insurance professionals and companies, practitioners and partners who have contributed to the development of the insurance professionals in the country."

Also speaking at the event in a televised message was Commissioner of Insurance, Dr Justice Ofori, who appreciated CIIG’s efforts to promote professionalism, integrity and excellence in insurance practice, especially in the changing dynamics of the sector.

The whole award scheme process was done with the guidance and supervision of KPMG, to ensure transparency and fairness.
