Qatar 2022 World Cup: Africa Should Dream About Winning The Trophy - Samuel Eto'o

Africa's soccer legend and the President of Cameroonian Football Federation, Samuel Eto'o Fils is optimistic without any shred of doubt that African national teams that will be participating in this year's World Cup will pull a surprise on the world stage.

The World Cup scheduled in November will be held at Qatar.

As African teams like Ghana, Cameroon and others that have qualified for the tournament prepare to make a significant mark and great strides in the competition, Samuel Eto'o is confident an African team will win the trophy to honor the continent.

In an exclusive interview on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo' with host Nana Yaw Kesseh, the legendary striker and four-time African Player of the Year shared his convictions, stating; "You know some years ago, Ghana was close to playing semi-final. Well, and if Ghana could have played the semi-final, why not go all the way to the Finals? So, this year, why can't we achieve it in Qatar 2022? Well, some people might be of the mindset that Africa will not be able to write history or change the course of history in Qatar, then they should tell me their mind; what they think about that."

He urged the leaders in Africa and Heads of the football federations to well-equip their players to go into the tournament and give off their best.

"Over the years, the competition has been a little bit biased and I can say that three month to the competition, we need to be ready. We need to be prepared. So, I will call on all the African leaders and all the States to really anticipate this game and make sure that they give the best condition so that once they get there, all they think about is playing a beautiful game of football."

For his expectations, he noted; "My expectations are that Africa should dream about winning this competition in Qatar 2022."
