Morgan Adamski, director of National Security Agency for Cyber Collaboration Center has disclosed that one of the effective ways to deal with state cyber threats is through strong and effective public private partnerships.

She says it must be built on sharing timely, relevant, unique data and insights across the public-private partners so that action can be taken on it on a global scale.

Speaking to selected journalist in an ongoing virtual training on Cyber security by the foreign press center of the US government, Morgan Adamski noted that though the US government is committed to protecting the cyber from various threats and attacks, it will need the effort of everybody especially the private sector to ensure an effective monitoring and a safe environment for internet business to thrive.

"We have conducted close to 10,000 different analytical exchanges with over 200 industry partners in the last nine months. I am confident we’re on the right path, all of us, together. We just need to keep moving, She added.

She affirmed that the US government is ready to assist its country partners through effective PPP to help protect state institutions from critical cyber attacks.

She further explained that the cyber actors that we follow on a daily basis, do not necessarily just target the U.S. They use those capabilities, that infrastructure, the techniques, tactics, and procedures to target a number of our allies and partners.

“And so if we are able to detect and degrade them, or disrupt their operations, we are doing that in places not just in the U.S. but across the globe,” she added.

One critical area of cybersecurity public-private partnerships (PPPs) is the health sector.

It is considered essential to tackle new challenges and risks of information and communications technologies (ICTs) across the healthcare industry. Given the fact that the private sector plays a substantial role in the provision of healthcare — either as a direct provider of medical services, or as a supplier of medical equipment, governments should take the private sector as a crucial partner in their national cybersecurity endeavours.

Hence, partnering with the private sector is vital for attainment of national cybersecurity goals in the healthcare sector and critical infrastructure (CI) in general.

Though journalists play a vital role in ensuring an effective public private partnership, they are equally susceptible to cyber attacks and that journalists need to continue to educate and also help to ensure an effective public private partnership, she maintained.

"It’s really important that you continue to cover cybersecurity issues and keep it at the forefront of people’s minds because it is something that continues to grow. We need cybersecurity, we need technology to better connect across the world and with the people we care about most. And so cybersecurity is a key aspect of that".

The Director of NSA Cyber Collaboration Centre further encouraged investing in strong public-private partnerships both internal to the United States, and also build those partnerships across geographic regions, across government agencies, across different types of technology sectors.

“The more that we can connect and share information, the better we are going to understand what the threats are, and the better we are going to be able to protect against it.”
