Galamsey Will End Today If NPP And NDC Unite To Fight It - Nana B

The National Organizer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has called on both his party and the largest opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), to unite and fight the galamsey menace.

Speaking to Kwami Sefa Kayi, Nana Boakye, affectionately called 'Nana B', strongly believed that there will be no more galamsey in Ghana should the two parties go to the mining communities with a common goal to stop the illegal mining activities.

"If the NPP and NDC should come together today and say whether you will vote for or against us, this menace will end . . . If we are to unite and go there and tell them to do their lawful thing, we won't let you destroy our water bodies and forest reserves, I'm telling you we will not be talking about this. More than 50 percent of the problem we are talking about is political because we, politicians, are all involved," he said on Peace FM's morning show "Kokrokoo".

Nana B urged the sector Minister, Samuel Abu Jinapor and State authorities as well as politicians to have the zeal to end it.

"Don't give up! Sometimes, as a young man, if care is not taken; you could be frustrated by the comments of people. Your renewed commitment you brought especially after your appointment, it is still there. It hasn't diminished. We should fight it at the water bodies and reserves and where we have to do reclamation, let's do it," he advised the Minister.
