Global Peace Mission Pledges GHC 500,000 Towards GJA Support Fund

President of the Global Peace Mission, Prof. Samuel Ato Duncan, has pledged to sponsor this year's Ghana Journalists' Association awards.

He has promised an amount of Ghc 500,000 towards the event and underscored plans to organize training programmes for Journalists to build their capacity.

He complimented the efforts of the government saying, "we want to help the government in every policy they may implement for a successful governance".

Prof. Ato Duncan made the remarks when GJA executives paid a courtesy call on him to invite him to chair this year's Journalists support fund as well as the awards at Owosourkrom in the Abura Asedu Kwamakese district of the Central Region.

He thanked the executives for placing faith in him and accepted their invitation to chair the program.

Prof Ato Duncan charged Journalists to be circumspect in their reportage.

"We should also assess the way we speak against leadership especially government in power or Party in opposition, we should therefore give respect to the seat, and be careful about our speech and utterances," he stated.

He also urged every Journalist to be an ambassador for peace.

"Every Journalist must see themselves as an ambassador for peace just as the centre of the global peace mission want them to be, to help maintain the peace in Ghana and across the world."

President of GJA, Mr Albert Kwabena Dwumfour on his part thanked Prof Ato Duncan for the kind gesture and promised to put the money in good use.

He was optimistic that the GJA will work to protect the lives of Journalists.
