It's Taking Too Long to Bring JB Danquah-Adu's Murderers to Justice . . . We Need Closure Now! - Dr. Otchere-Ankrah Tells IGP

Governance Lecturer at the Central University, Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah, has sent a message to the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, hoping he addresses it as soon as possible.

Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah has asked the IGP to bring closure to the murder case of the late Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North, J.B Danquah-Adu, whose life was taken away while he was home.

On 9th February 2016, the late MP was stabbed to death in the early hours of the day.

Subsequently, the Police arrested a man, Daniel Asiedu, for the murder and in a reported confession by the suspect, JB Danquah was killed in a struggle when he tried to rob him.

The suspect has since been remanded into Police custody.

Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" programme, Dr. Otchere-Ankrah was worried that it has taken too long to bring the criminal(s) to justice.

"The prosecution is taking too long. The IGP was the Regional Commander at the time, so he was part of the officers who did the investigations. We plead with you that people begin to forget when it keeps long," he told Kwami Sefa Kayi.

Cold Case Unit

Meanwhile, the Police has indicated that a Unit called 'Cold Case Unit' has been established to revisit unresolved murder cases.

The Police emphasized this Unit and its role in a press statement released yesterday and signed by Chief Superintendent of Police, Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director, Public Affairs, in which they informed the public that musician Shatta Wale had been invited to assist investigations into the murder of the late artiste manager Fennec Okyere.

"The Police would like to put on record that the recently established Cold Case Unit, has been working for months on all unresolved murder cases, including that of Fennec Okyere with support from the affected families. This new development from Shatta Wale is therefore going to complement our ongoing investigation.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the families who have been working with the Cold Case Unit since its establishment for their cooperation and understanding. We wish to assure the public that the Police will continue to work relentlessly on these cases in order to bring closure to the affected families", portions of the statement read.
