World Cup: Sterling to Return to England Camp on Friday

Raheem Sterling will return to England’s World Cup base in Qatar ahead of Saturday's quarter-final against France.

The Chelsea forward has been with his family in Surrey since missing England's 3-0 win over Senegal in Sunday's World Cup last-16 game, following a break-in at his home.

But he is now set to be available for selection for England's momentous encounter against world champions France as he flies back to Qatar on Friday.

It remains to be seen whether Sterling, who was benched in the 3-0 win over Wales before leaving Qatar, returns to the starting line-up against France.

Sterling wanted assurances that his family were safe - with additional security measures worked through - before returning to Qatar, having departed due to what the FA announced was a "family matter".

Sources close to the player initially indicated armed intruders had broken into his home while his family were inside, but subsequent police statements said the occupants of the house had reported items missing after returning to the family home from an international trip.
