#RIPAtsu: 'This Is the Time People Have to Respect Our Job'; The Disrespect Is Too Much! 'We Risk Our Lives' - Asamoah Gyan 'Cries'

Former Black Stars skipper, Asamoah Gyan has asked football fans to respect footballers for the work they do.

Baby Jet as he is popularly called reacting to the demise of Christian Atsu in an interview on Peace FM's Midday news questioned why people criticize footballers for taking "taxpayers" money when they are only being paid for work they've done.

"This is the time some Ghanaians and people all over the world have to respect our job . . . for all these years all we hear is taxpayers' money, this and that, but they forget that for every profession you get paid. You don't know the risk we go through . . . we put our lives on the line. Look at someone who takes care of orphanages and so on, people depend on him; look at what has happened, he was trying to make a living and so this is the time people have to respect us a lot. The disrespect is too much. . . We risk our lives . . . we also go through a lot . . . this is an example for everybody, I'm in pain this situation has happened but this is a natural disaster, it shouldn't have happened like that, but life goes on so whatever we can do to support the family in everything we will do it . . ." he lamented.

Meanwhile, Asamoah Gyan says he intends to organise a football match to raise money for the family of Christian Atsu.
