Renowned Highlife musician, Akosua Agyapong has threatened to organise boys from Nima to stop executives of the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) from attending the funeral of the late Kwadwo Akwaboah Snr who died on Tuesday, May 16.

A visibly angered Akosua Agyapong who was speaking on Kumasi-based Akoma FM in a video seen by Graphic Showbiz said her decision is based on how unfairly the leadership of GHAMRO treated their members in need.

In an another video where Akosua Agyapong is in the studios of Adom FM, the Kokooko hit-maker accused GHAMRO’s leadership including one Abraham Adjetey of offering the deceased a paltry ¢250 when he once called them for assistance to pay his medical bills.

“Akwaboah Snr called me about three or four months to his death and complained bitterly about how GHAMRO gave him ¢ 250 to top up to pay his medical bills.

“He was really angry and disappointed and wanted to take the money back. We know that Akwaboah wasn’t a troublesome person but see how he was treated,” Akosua Agyapong said.

The death of the veteran highlife musician was announced by his son Akwaboah Jnr in an Instagram post on Tuesday, May 16.

He shared a photo of his father with the caption: “RIP DADDY.” Akwaboah Snr is reported to have died at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.

The deceased, 60, who is credited with songs like ‘Awerekyekyere’, ‘Hini Me’, among others played in his late father, Master Bob Kwabena Akwaboah’s Akwaboah International Band, Marriot Band and Oheneba Ntim Barima Band.

Some of the songs he is known for are Awerekyekyere, Face To Face and Hini Me.

Kwadwo Akwaboah Snr’s one week is scheduled for Trede, off the Obuasi Road on Tuesday, May 30.
