Give Refurbished Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park to a Private Company to Maintain - Sefa Kayi to Gov't

Host of Peace FM's morning show "Kokrokoo", Kwami Sefa Kayi has called on the management of the refurbished Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park to adopt a good maintenance culture for the edifice to remain in its modern shape.

Mr. Sefa Kayi appealed for a private company to take over maintaining the renovated park with government having a significant stake in the day-to-day running of this monument.

He shared little trust in the memorial park being kept neat and in good shape if entrusted into the hands of government.

"I'm sorry to say this but most of the time, apart from the Armed Forces, the rest of the country doesn't have a maintenance culture," he said and requested a private-public partnership to maintain the edifice.

The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Tuesday, July, commissioned the state-of-the-art Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park in honor of Ghana's first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

Addressing the gathering at the ceremony, the President noted that the GHC 30 million modernized Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park has not only been renovated but it has also been completely modernized to befit the status of the final resting place of the man who led Ghana to independence in 1957.

“The Park now has facilities including a presidential library, receptive facility, mini-amphitheater, restaurant, freedom wall, and a digitalised payment and access system. The mausoleum has also been fully refurbished, with the tombstone upgraded, and the museum expanded with an audiovisual tunnel. There is also an upgraded VVIP lounge, expanded recreational area, a modernized gift shop, and a fountain area with synchronised audiovisuals, the first of its kind in West Africa,” he said.
