Manhyia South Fully Supports Dr. Bawumia To Become NPP Flagbearer – NAPO

Energy Minister and Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has assured Vice President, His Excellency Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the total support of delegates of Manhyia South for him in the upcoming NPP Special Delegates Congress and subsequently the National Delegates Congress.

Speaking at a meeting of NPP delegates of the constituency with Dr. Bawumia on Thursday, 6th July, 2023 at the Ash Town Apostolic Church, Dr. Prempeh told why the delegates should vote for Dr. Bawuimia saying the Vice President’s sterling qualities, experience, deep loyalty and sacrifices for the NPP makes him the party’s best foot going into the 2024 elections.

According to the Energy Minister, the party’s quest at clinching a 3rd-term electoral victory, popularly known in the NPP parlance as "breaking the 8" can only be possible with Dr. Bawumia; given his character to unite the entire Ghanaian society and all persons from different religious backgrounds.

“The Vice President has served well as Vice President, defending the programmes and policies of our government and remains the only existential threat to the electoral fortunes of John Mahama and the NDC, of all the candidates vying for the flagbearership slot”, he said.

Dr. Prempeh added that, since his grandfather, the Otumfuo Asantehene, has publicly announced Dr. Bawumia is his son; it means Dr. Bawumia is his (Dr. Prempeh) father, so he cannot support any candidate in the contest other than his father (Bawumia).

The Vice President is in the Ashanti Region, the NPP’s stronghold, for the next 11 days where he will be speaking to delegates in the 47 constituencies to solicit their votes and to tell them why he is the best among all the candidates vying for the party’s flagbearer position.
