The Extra-Ordinary National Delegates Congress of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) slated for June ending has been postponed to September 30, Mr Ladi Nylander, the National Chairman, said in Kumasi at the weekend.
The party will elect the National Executives in the next six to
eight weeks and elect its flag bearer for Election 2012 on September
30 this year, Mr Nylander told reporters after meeting constituency
chairmen of the party in Ashanti Region. The meeting formed part of
his campaign for re-election.
This is the third time the Congress has been postponed. It was
initially fixed for April 29 and 30 but was postponed to May 27 to 29
and later to June ending, mainly due to operational hiccups and
organizational challenges.
Mr Nylander called on potential delegates to the congress to vote
massively to retain him to enable him to better prepare and position
the party for the 2012 general elections.
