Osei Kwame Despite, Ofori Sarpong To Build Biggest Poultry Farm In Ghana - Agric Minister Discloses

Minister of Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong has disclosed that Ghana locally produces only about 4 percent of poultry used in the country.

Local poultry farmers in Ghana can only produce 15,000 metric tons of poultry, while the country consumes about 325,000 metric tons, hindering the growth of the local poultry business.

"I don't know how we pride ourselves as Ghanaians when we have such major challenges and we look on. In fact, you know, even though we consume 325,000 metric tons of poultry, we produce only 15,000 and this number even includes domestic poultry . . . We don't even have the farms to produce the 300,000 metric tons," he said.

He stated that he plans to increase Ghana's poultry production capacity from 15,000 to 25,000 metric tons.

He has been discussing with stakeholders, including Dr. Osei Kwame Despite, CEO of Despite Group, and Dr. Ofori Sarpong, CEO of Special Investments Limited to improve the poultry farming industry in the country.

" . . They've assured me that they will build one of the biggest poultry farms in this country," he mentioned.
