Investigate the Allegations Raised By Some of Your Aspirants - Dr. Asah Asante To NPP

Senior Political Science Lecturer at the University of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Asah Asante has requested the leadership of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) to look into the allegations of vote-buying and other violations raised by some of the party's presidential aspirants regarding their just-ended Super Delegates Conference.

The New Patriotic Party(NPP) conducted a special election on Saturday with a selected number of delegates voting to elect five out of the ten aspirants to compete in their main flagbearer race on November 4th.

After the election, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Assin Central MP; Kennedy Agyapong, former Trade Minister; Alan Kyerematen, former Agriculture Minister; Dr. Owusu Afriyie-Akoto made it to the top four and the party is yet to decide on the fifth candidate as leading member of the NPP; Thomas Addai Nimoh and former Energy Minister; Boakye Agyarko, both polled the same number of votes.

However, the candidates, particularly Kennedy Agyapong and Alan Cash have raised concerns of intimidation against their polling agents with Mr. Agyapong threatening to give President Nana Addo and the Vice President a "showdown".

Discussing these concerns during Peace FM's morning programme "Kokrokoo", Dr. Asah Asante admonished the party's leadership not to ignore the allegations by the aspirants.

He stressed "even one is bad enough to destroy the whole structure", so urged the party to investigate them.
