An Optometrist, Dr. Ignatius Safee Boafo has disclosed that eye diseases among people especially children in the country are increasing.

According to the medical doctor with the Third Eyecare and Vision Centre, more children are suffering from a medical disorder called a refractive error, a disease that causes vision loss and blindness.

Since last year, Third Eye and Vision Centre has screened more than 900 children, distributed about 500 glasses to protect children from blinding diseases.

Globally, over a billion people have a visual impaired that according to Dr. Ignatius Safee Boafo could have been treated or prevented.

Speaking to Journalists during an eye screening day specifically for children organised by Third Eyecare and Vision Centre, Dr. Ignatius Safee Boafo advised parents to take advantage of the free eye screening exercise to check the eyes of their children.

Health is wealth so we need to have time to always check our health status regularly so as not to be overtaken by events,” he said.

Some parents who took advantage of the free eye screening exercise lauded third Eye care for the initiative.
