The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), Ghana Chapter, has tasked internal auditors to provide good audit reports that can help deal with issues of corruption in the government sector.

Dr. Rebecca Atswei Lomo, President of ACFE Ghana-Chapter, noted that auditors must acquire the requisite skills needed to execute investigations and as well produce quality reports that could stand the test of the courts.

She said they should be able to defend their reports; reports that yield positive results saying “if is funds that has been misappropriated we need to follow up and recover, if is a criminal case then the person must be sanctioned”.

Dr. Lomo made this call on the sidelines of a forensic investigation training workshop organized by Makers and Partners (MAP), a chartered accountancy firm, in collaboration with ACFE Ghana-Chapter.

It registered 55 internal auditors of the Judicial Service of Ghana and aimed at equipping them with the requisite skills for forensic investigation to safeguard the Service from internal threats such as fraud and misconduct.

Dr. Lomo described ACFE as a global organization with 190 local chapters around the globe including the Ghana Chapter; its mission is to educate and train its members so they will be well-equipped in fraud examination.

The President of ACFE Ghana-Chapter revealed the association will soon celebrate its week, every 2nd week in November.

Dr. Lomo said, during the celebration, the association would hold its first conference on 15th to 16th November and urged the public to participate.

“We will educate the public on how they can protect themselves against fraudsters and scammers on the internet.”
