Konadu Finishes Ashanti Tour

Leading contender in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearership race, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings has completed her four-day campaign tour of the Ashanti region. The former First Lady and her campaign team finished canvassing for delegates votes in the region on Thursday evening, DAILY GUIDE sources disclosed. She and her team have subsequently left for the Northern region where she reportedly met party delegates to seek their support for her presidential bid. During her four day stay in the Ashanti region, the President of the 31st December Womens Movement met with delegates of the ruling party in all 39 constituencies in the area. Nana Konadu is said to have had a hearty-chat with them and has high hopes of grabbing more votes from the region at the partys congress next month. A close source said Nana Konadu met some of the delegates as late as 11:00pm and that the delegates waited deep into the night just to interact with their political idol. A member of her campaign team that spoke to DAILY GUIDE on condition of anonymity said she is targeting about 85 percent of the votes in the region. The source said considering the response of the delegates and the warm manner with which they received Nana Konadu, he would not be surprised if she wins about 90 percent of the votes from the region. He said almost all the delegates they interacted with in the region expressed disgust about the weak leadership of President Mills and have vowed to vote him out to prevent the NDC from losing power in 2012. Nana Konadu, the source hinted, would be canvassing for more votes in the three northern regions before she dashes to other parts of the country to campaign.
