Fight Against Fraud and Corruption Needs Collective Action - Makers and Partners

Mr Alfred Aryee, Partner at Makers and Partners (MAP), a chartered accountancy firm, has admonished Ghanaians not to leave the corruption fight to only mandated institutions but contribute to efforts targeted at eliminating the menace.

He noted that considering the effects of corruption all stakeholders must add their voices and collaborate to ensure bold steps were taken to stop looters of resources.

He said as part of their contribution, their CSR, where internal auditors within some state institutions are being offered free training in forensic audit, therefore aimed at building the capacity of the Internal Audit Function to be able to address corruption and fraud related issues.

Mr Aryee was speaking at the 1st Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) Fraud Conference held in Accra.

The two-day event, which was chaired by Justice Dr Ernest Owusu-Dapaah, Justice of the Court of Appeal was on the theme: “Winning the Fight against Fraud and Corruption in Ghana, A Collective Responsibility”.

Mr Aryee said MAP is well positioned to partner more institutions to create awareness and equip them with the requisite skills to identify and fight fraud.

Dr Rebecca Atswei Lomo, President of ACFE Ghana Chapter said the theme for the Conference underscored the gravity of the issues and necessity of collective efforts and as such demands synergy, dedication and unwavering commitment.

She said the prevalence and sophistication of fraud demands heightened awareness and proactive measures, as such, the objective of the conference is to strengthen the fraud fighting skills of their members and others and also to educate the general public on how to protect their resources from fraudsters.
