The Ashanti Youth has rendered an unqualified apology to the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Mr Bernard Antwi Boasiako and all others affected by their press conference, which happened on Wednesday, 17th January 2024.
According to the youth, they failed to exercise restraint and patience to ascertain the truth or otherwise of the allegations against Chairman Wontumi which pushed them to organize that press conference. Still, upon sober reflection, particularly after the wise judgment from the Kumasi Traditional Council, they find it appropriate to render this unqualified apology to the Ashanti Regional Chairman of NPP, and also to the Manhyia Palace.
They then seized the opportunity to advise the youth of Asanteman to desist from such acts that aim to harm the dignity and image of innocent people, particularly when evidence has not been provided to support such claims.
The Ashanti Youth finally appealed to Chairman Wontumi to find a place in his heart to accept their apology as they are one big family in Asanteman.
The Kumasi Traditional Council on Monday, 29th January 2024, cleared the Ashanti Regional Chairman of NPP of all the allegations levelled against him by the Kokosohene, Nana Kwaku Duah, which included an alleged disrespect towards the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the NPP parliamentary vetting committee meeting.
The decision by the Traditional Council affirmed the widely held view that Chairman Wontumi is one of the few, and probably the only politician who prides himself with the Asantehene in all that he does, particularly during radio and TV interviews.
