The Access Bank womenpreneur Pitch-a-thon initiative has graduated 50 women led businesses in the agriculture value chain after being equipped with the requisite knowledge to help bolster their businesses.

The Womenpreneur Pitch-a-thon which is in its 5th season, aims to empower female entrepreneurs to grow their businesses.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony for the 5th edition of the Womenpreneur Pitch-a-ton competition, Executive Director for Retail and Digital Banking at Access Bank Ghana, Pearl Nkrumah, said this edition allowed women in agribusinesses to build their capacity in business management and receive financial support for their businesses.

10 women-led businesses were awarded as the top 10 participants, with three of such businesses receiving 100,000 cedis as the ultimate prizes for the competition.

Outlining the factors that catapulted the three ladies to the top, the Executive Director for Retail and Digital Banking at Access Bank, Pearl Nkrumah, indicated that the judges and partners believed that their ideas were great and had a proof of concept.

Pearl Nkrumah said that the remaining participants will also benefit from advertisements on all Access Bank platforms across all the countries they operate in and will also be entitled to easy loan processes to boost their businesses.

The top three womenpreneurs that were awarded with the ultimate 100,000 cedis are Sava Shea, founded by Ruth Wewura Guiribi, Ayden Ventures, owned by Rosemond Afful, and Tropical Snack, owned by Augustina Asor Tuffour.

On his part, the Project Lead for the GIZ AgriBiz Programme, Christoph Pannhausen, said the goal of the Womenpreneur Pitch-a-ton competition aligns with that of GIZ, as they seek to support small, micro, and medium businesses, especially in the agribusiness sector.

Commenting on the contributions of the seed capital to her business, Rosemond Afful, one of the winners of the ultimate prices, said “the amount will go a long way to help me restructure my business, procure equipment to enhance productivity, and employ more people.”

She further commended Access Bank Ghana PLC for their continuous support for women businesses.
