The Suame lawmaker, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu voluntarily vacated his position after a crunch meeting with the leadership of the New Patriotic Party and the President, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

With Hon. Afenyo-Markin’s ascent to the Majority Leader position in Parliament, Madam Patricia Appiagyei, MP for Asokwa, takes the seat of Deputy Majority Leader.

Other changes effected by the party include Habib Iddrisu, MP for Tolon, being appointed Deputy Whip and Alex Tettey Djonobuah, MP for Sefwi Akontombra, becomes the Second Deputy Whip.

Nsawam-Adoagyiri Parliamentarian, Frank Annoh-Dompreh maintains the position of Chief Whip.

Commenting on the new leadership of the NPP Caucus, Prof. Smart Sarpong praised Hon. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu for his rich parliamentary experience and good works for the people of Ghana.

To him, Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu cannot go without transferring his knowledge and level of experience to the younger generations.

He therefore proposed for him to write his memoir, saying "we need about 5 books from him before he becomes weak or become old and can't write books".

"Hon. Kyei Mensah-Bonsu deserves salute. What is left is for him to set up a team, I will gladly like to be a part of it and write books. We want to keep his knowledge on paper", he added in his submissions on Peace FM's morning show "Kokrokoo".
