Akufo-Addo Gave a Fair View of the State of the Nation - Kwamena Duncan

Former Central Regional Minister Kwamena Duncan has lauded the President, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo and his government for his sterling performance on driving the country through the hardships brought on the economy by the Covid-19 and the Russian-Ukraine War.

Kwamena Duncan stated that, the President through his special initiatives and negotiating expertise helped the country to manage its debts which enabled the country to secure the International Moneytary Fund loan.

Reacting to the Prssident's State of the Nation Address in Parliament on Tuesday, February 27, Kwamena Duncan opined that the President could not have done it any better than how he [the President] has done it.

According to Kwamena Duncan, the President, through the Finance Minister, led a beautiful debt restrucutring programme with the International Monetary Fund. Although the debt restructuring was a bit uncomforable for some bond holders, Kwamena Duncan underscored the need to applaud all the bondholders who, in spite of the hardships, allowed the government to enter into a negotiation with them in order to secure the IMF loan.

"I am wondering how it would look like if it were others. I am wondering how the situation would have been like if it were others who were in government."

"I was happy when the President testified that, the work he assigned to his vice, Bawumia, he did it with excellence which has placed Ghana first in West Africa as the country with the highest financial inclusiveness. Today we live it when it comes to E-governance, Ghana is the 7th in the whole of Africa all within the 8 years of the Akufo Addo-Bawunmia government".

"But for the Covid and the Russian-Ukraine war which was very impacting on the economy, we woud have had a very buouyant economy than this," he added.
