The National Human Development Report Is to Determine the Future of Work and Job Creation in Ghana - NDPC

The United Nations Development Programme in collaboration with National Development Planning Commission, and the Ghana Statistic Service has produced the Ghana National Human Development Report, 2023.

According to the 2023 reports by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), 14.7% are unemployed in the country.

The engagement sessions encouraged dialogue and knowledge exchange among key stakeholders including young people, community members, CSOs, private sector, research institutions and the media.

Speaking with Peace FM News, the Director General for the National Development Planning Commission, Mr. Kodjo Mensah-Abrampa stated that the National Human Development Report 2023 is very essential because it is dealing with the issues of unemployment in Ghana which is at the heart of the development of the country.

He said this report will help solve some unemployment challenges in the country.

He said the National Development Planning Commission has focused on job creation for the last two terms which is very important.

Mr. Mensah-Abrampa said they did not have concrete data to build some of their models on when it comes to human capacity building but now there is the population census and a lot of analysis pursued by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS).

He, therefore, attest to the fact that these information have helped in the Human capacity strategy building and in job creation.

The theme for Ghana's National Human Development Report, 2023 launched by the United Nations Development Programmes and the National Development Planning Commission is 'The Future Value of Work in Ghana: Pathways to Sustainable Jobs'.

The United Nations Development Programmes Residents representative in Ghana, Dr. Angela Lusigi also stated that the National Human Development Report will show where we are now as a country, the unemployment rates and also determine the future value of work in Ghana.
