Stop Defaming Me and Rock City Hotel - Bryan Acheampong Replies Ablakwa Over Allegations

NPP Member of Parliament of Abetifi constituency, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, has reacted to the ongoing conversation regarding the alleged sale of 4 SSNIT hotels to Rock City Hotel owned by the lawmaker.

According to the Agriculture Minister, the allegations leveled against by the North Tongu Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, is meant to tarnish and destroy his hard earned reputation.

Granting an interview with Joy FM on Tuesday, May 21, the Abetifi lawmaker sent a word of caution to his colleague Parliamentarian to desist from tarnishing his image and the reputation of Rock City Hotel Limited.

Dr. Bryan Acheampong’s comment follows an earlier petition to the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, asking CHRAJ to investigate an alleged transaction between the Rock City Hotel Limited owned by the sector minister and the management of SSNIT.

According to the petition sent to CHRAJ by Okudzeto Ablakwa, he perceives an act of conflict of interest and other procurement irregularities.

In a rebuttal, Dr. Bryan Acheampong expressed his utmost disappointment over Okudzeto Ablakwa’s actions, dismissing the allegations as unfounded and stating that the claims are a deliberate attempt to bring his name and image into disrepute.

Dr. Bryan Acheampong said, “you are just adding things together and trying to destroy me and trying to destroy Rock City. It is most unfair, it is ‘un-Ghanaian’ and you should stop it.”

He urged the North Tongu MP to distinguish him from his businesses and ask genuine questions if he has any.

“If you have issues with a corporate entity, ask questions. I will never stop you and nobody will stop you from asking questions but in the tangent that you [Okudzeto Ablakwa] are going, it has nothing to do with that.

“I am a politician and I can be okay with it . . . but note that you are not speaking the truth and CHRAJ will confirm all this to you,” Dr. Bryan Acheampong said.

The Abetifi MP disclosed that, Mr. Ablakwa’s assertion that he is engaged in wrongful procurement is false and lack basis.

Bryan Acheampong explained further that, "Rock City tells me and SSNIT has also confirmed that they had several negotiation meetings. One of the minutes is what Mr. Okudzeto has. In the final negotiations that they reached an agreement, the agreement is what Rock City fulfilled."
