Yvonne Nelson's 'Dumsormuststop' Vigil Foiled

The planned peaceful demonstration spearheaded by the sensational Ghanaian actress and philanthropist, Yvonne Nelson, has been foiled following an application for injunction by the Ghana Police Service.

The film maker and producer, who is known to be vociferous on issues pertaining to nation building, planned a vigil to express her displeasure over the incessant power rationing confronting the country.

During the era of the erstwhile Mahama government, Yvonne Nelson, together with top stars like DKB, Prince David Osei, Sarkodie, IMANI Ghana’s Kofi Bentil amongst many Ghanaians, took to the streets of Accra to embark on the demonstration dubbed “Dumsormuststop”. The demonstration sort to mount pressure on the government at the time to find lasting solution to the power challenges.

In light of the recent power fluctuations in the country, Yvonne Nelson decided to organize the same vigil on the 25th of May, 2024.

A prohibition letter sought from the court by the police headquarters have been granted by the Accra     High Court.

The letter stated, “Take notice that this Honourable Court shall be moved by Counsel for and behalf of the Applicant herein praying that this Honourable Court for an order prohibiting the respondents from holding an intended picketing fixed for 25th May, 2024 at Revolution Square, upon the grounds contained in the accompanying affidavit and for such further order (s) as this Honourable Court may deem fit."
