The Minister for Interior and Member of Parliament(MP) for Ayawaso Central constituency, Henry Quartey has stated emphatically that the Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson erred in stating that each NPP Parliamentary candidate has been given thirty (30) recruitment slots in an alleged ongoing recruitment process.  

Reacting to the claims, Hon. Henry Quartey said, "I can categorically say that we haven’t given anyone 30 slots. In any case, Ato Forson has been a deputy Finance Minister, so he knows the process. On top of that, if you describe yourself as someone who is good with figures, there are certain things you don’t have to say like that, especially ones pertaining to security. Security matters are handled behind the scenes. So I think the minority leader should have done what is expected of him. He erred greatly.”

The Interior Minister’s comments come on the heels of a recent press conference organized by the minority caucus in parliament where the leader was cited to have said that each NPP parliamentary candidate has been given 30 slots in an ongoing recruitment process.

The Minority Leader and MP for Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, alleged during a news conference on Monday, May 20, that all NPP parliamentary candidates have been allocated 30 slots each to select NPP loyalists and supporters to fill positions within the security services, including the police and the army.

Dr. Ato Forson, in his press conference, urged the President, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo and the government to do what he describes as undemocratic behaviour, emphasizing the need for transparency and fairness in recruitment processes within the security sector.

In an interview on Wednesday, May 22 on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning show, the former Greater Accra Regional Minister described the comments by the Minority Leader as having the potential of posing security challenges for the country.

He thus entreated the minority leader to do the needful by apologizing to all Ghanaians over what he described as false and baseless propaganda.
