Thomas Partey To Lead Ghana For World Cup Qualifiers As Captain

Thomas Partey has been named Ghana's captain for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Mali and Central African Republic

This was after captain Dede Ayew was dropped from the squad by head coach, Otto Addo.

Thomas has faced numerous setbacks due to injuries during the season but ended on a high note despite Arsenal's missing the English Premier League (EPL) to Manchester City on the final day of the season.

Partey was unable to participate in the 2023 AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast earlier this year which saw Ghana's shambolic performance and elimination in the group stage.

Thomas Partey's comeback will be a boost for the Stars in their attempt to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

The Black Stars will take on Mali on June 6, 2024, away in Bamako before welcoming the Central African Republic to the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi four days later.
