�Volta University� To Cost $20m

Mr Joseph Amenowode, Volta Regional Minister has announced that the proposed University of Allied Sciences in the Region is estimated to cost $20 million. Upon completion the University would be peerless in prestige among public universities in Ghana, he said. He said government was looking for funds to start the project, adding the ruling National Democratic Congress was �not the type that abandons projects midway�. Mr Amenowode was addressing a durbar of the Chiefs and people of Have to mark this year�s Agadevi festival which was on the theme: �The development of Have, a shared responsibility.� He said the high premium government placed on education led to the provision of 200 schools in the Region in two years with additional 100 schools slated for this year. Mr Amenowode who is also the Member of Parliament for Hohoe South commended the chiefs and people of Have for their self-help spirit which facilitated the building of the Have Secondary Technical School among other projects. He expressed optimism that the same self-help spirit would manifest in the GH�100,000 multi-purpose community centre project being undertaken in the town. He pledged to support the project with 200 bags of cement.
