Rawlingses Are Worse Off Under NDC Than NPP

A member of the opposition New Patriotic Party communication team has decried the way and manner the former first couple is being treated by the Mills led administration, saying the Rawlingses were better off under the Kufuor administration than they are now under the NDC. Asamoah Gyamfi, speaking on Xfms news analysis program, the Inside Story intimated that the NDC party will crumble if the treatment being meted out to Mrs Rawlings following her decision to contest the flagbearership slot of the NDC is not halted. From the inception of her campaign, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings has been complaining about one intimidation form after another, threatening to seek redress in court if the national executives do nothing about her complaints. And this, Asamoah Gyamfi believes will spell doom for the NDC if left to continue. According to him, with the command that the former President wields in Ghanas political circles, it will be impossible for President Mills to win a second term in office without Mr Rawlings involvement, adding that the Mills-led administration has not shown Mr Rawlings that respect to demand that sacrifices. As to how they can come together, unless Jerry goes through some form of transformation. All the Rawlingses got to lose is the NDC. They have nothing to lose in this country whether the NDC is in power or the NPP. In reality they are even worse off under NDC than under NPP; they are being monitored by the BNI everywhere, you think that is proper, no. So having done all these, and told him that he is irrelevant, that his time is past and now you go and vote for President Mills; what is he going to tell the people? having done all of these to Mrs Rawlings, and then after that, you will like her to come? The only person, who can keep the NDC strong; who is the center of attraction, is Jerry Rawlings. So the Rawlingses will like to prove to the GAME people, that if you say we are irrelevant, we will stay in our corner; definitely they wouldnt campaign against the NDC, but they will stay in their corner, and we will see what will happen on the Election Day. So I dont see it happening; Jerry jumping on his jeep and moving from constituency to constituency as he did in 2008; I really do not see that because they have never shown him that respect to demand that sacrifices. He discounted assertions that the Rawlingses will form a new party if Mrs Rawlings fails to win the flagbearership slot, and rather asked, have you seen a landlord, leaving his house for the tenant to take over? Mr Asamoah Gyamfi believes strongly Mrs Rawlings can make an impact at the Sunyani congress in the face of all the intimidation, saying, for me, even if she gets 5%, she is a winner.
