A Presidential aide, Nii Lantey Vanderpuije has pleaded with Journalists and media men covering the National delegates Congress of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to be circumspect in their reportage. Nii Lantey Vanderpuije said reports must be based on facts and not hearsay adding that Journalist should ensure that stories are devoid of any form of sensationalism. Addressing the Press from the venue to host the long awaited NDC congress in the Brong Ahafo Regional capital, Sunyani, Nii Lantey Vanderpuije assured that with the cooperation of Journalists and security men available the NDC congress would be a success. I am begging you in the name of Gods and this countrys progress, we have had calls about the reportage from some of our colleagues, we are not asking you to say what you have not seen but as a much as possible we want you to be fair with your work, be objective with your work. Oh his part Baba Jamal, a Deputy Minister of Information warned that anyone found without accreditation would not be allowed to enter the congress grounds. About four thousand, five hundred press men and women have been accredited to cover the NDC delegates congress which starts tomorrow. The congress has generated interest and attracted huge media coverage because it is the first time in the countrys history a sitting president is being contested for the partys leadership mid-way through his first term by someone from his party. It is also historic because it is the closest a woman has come to running for President. It is president John Mills versus wife of party founder, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings. Many also want to know how founder Rawlings influence and charisma will help his wife in clinching the flagbearership of the party.
