NDC To Sack Bad Boys

RECALCITRANT MEMBERS of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai constituency of the Western region stand the risk of being dismissed from the ruling party if they fail to turn over a new leaf. The constituencys chairman says all members who have been creating trouble for the party in the name of the infamous foot soldier syndrome risk being sacked from the NDC soon. Jerry Kankam Darkwa who sounded angry told Daily Guide that the foot soldier agitations that have hit the party across the country since the NDC assumed political office was tarnishing its image. He therefore noted that it was time for the NDC leadership to be firm and apply the sanctions listed in the partys constitution against all those who are using the name foot soldiers to create trouble. According to him the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai constituency has suffered its fair share of foot soldier agitations and this he said has not helped smooth growth of the party. He observed that if nothing was done in earnest to arrest the anomaly, the NDC might not realize its high ambition of securing political victory in 2012 to continue with its Better Ghana agenda. Mr. Darkwa said he would soon call a meeting with the foot soldiers in his constituency and try to resolve any problem confronting them for peace to prevail. He however added that if the so-called foot soldiers failed to accept his peace mission, he would be forced to apply the partys constitution on erring members which would mean a sack from the party. He admitted that politics is dependent on numbers therefore every political party needs more people on its side to make the desired impact during elections but said no party could progress with bad nuts and trouble makers having a field day. The areas parliamentary seat, Darkwa said, traditionally belonged to the NDC but they lost it to the opposition NPP in the last two polls due to alleged bias on the part of electoral officers and a certain ex-police commander of the area. According to him, now that the said police commander is out of town and the polls would be organized in a free and fair manner, the NDC would reclaim the seat in the upcoming general elections without any problems. He said no matter what crisis has engulfed the ruling party in the area at the moment, the NDC would deal with its internal problems and win the seat next year. The constituency has seen more improvement since the NDC took political power in 2009, he said citing construction of school blocks, modern market and youth employment creation initiatives as some of the good work the NDC has so far done in the area. He said the NDC would use the timely projects and programmes that it has brought to the area as its trump card to unseat the NPP in the 2012parliamentary polls. The NDC chairman pointed out the party could not achieve its vision with a divided house and passionately appealed to his fellow party members to unite to help the NDC retain political power in the next elections.
