Ho Constituency NDC In Disarray

The Ho Central Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress Harnock Bansah has revoked a suspension fiat slapped on two members of the constituency. Alhaji Bello and Daniel Idikoko were suspended yesterday by the General Secretary of the constituency for leading a group, calling itself the NDC Youth for Action, onto the streets to demonstrate against the Regional Minister, Mr Joseph Amenorwode. The Secretary, Stanley Glartey, in a strongly worded statement said his power to suspend was sanctioned by the party and dared anybody who intended to challenge his decision to do so at his own risk. This press conference is the partys position. Democracy is ruling in Ghana and democracy is always about numbers. Majority must always carry the day. One person cannot take the law into his own hands and do things for his own selfish whims and caprices. On this note I am saying that if any member of the Executive Committee of either Ho Central or Ho West is discontent with todays press conference, that person should look at their number first before expressing their frustration. If their number cannot take them anywhere they must forever hold their peace, he said. But in what could be said to be gaping cracks beginning to emerge in the Constituency, the chairman, insisted, that press conference was only a charade. Harnock Bansah told Joy News the Secretary per the partys constitution has no locus to organize a press conference and announce suspensions without the express permission of the Chairman and his Vice. He said his Secretary is guilty of the same charge of indiscretion and procedural lapses he is leveling against the two. By our party structure, the Secretary doesnt have the authority to organize a press conference without the Chairman and Vice Chairman's knowledge. Once I am around and he has not informed me or my Vice Chairman, I think that press conference is illegal." He said natural justice demands that you should hear people before taking action against them. You cannot unilaterally organize a press conference and say you have suspended party members. As far as I am concerned, those people still remain members of the party until otherwise determined by a disciplinary committee. Asked about his relationship with the secretary, the chairman said "there is no ill feeling against each other".
