Akomea Expresses Regret At Insult Incident

Nana Akomea, NPPs Director of Communications, has expressed regret at the incident in which he and Deputy Minister of Information, James Agyenin-Boateng, traded insults during a Joy FM radio programme, two Saturdays ago. Nana Akomea expressed his remorse during a Metro TV Good Morning Ghana programme last Friday explaining that he tried to no avail to stem the developing situation by calling the attention of the host of the programme and the deputy minister. The NPP director of communications said that he discovered that the use of the offensive language was deliberate and that this prompted his equally offensive response. It was a regrettable development and he hoped that it never happened again in the future, a position shared by a co-panelist on the programme, Samuel Okudzeto-Ablakwa. Mr. Okudzeto prayed that all would put the incident behind them as we try to sanitise the national discourse on the mass media. The two were at each others throats with deputy minister firing an offensive language at the NPP communications director by virtually saying that he not intelligent. Nana Akomea demanded a withdrawal of the words failing which he referred to him as a stupid fool. The vitriolic exchange resonated across the country with some observers describing it as a nasty development which should be avoided in the future.
