Deputy Interior Minister Kobby Acheampong has hit hard at the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) asking them to shut up and stop babbling about the shortage of Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) in the country. To him, the NPP has no moral authority to comment on the recent shortage of the commodity. Many Ghanaians, especially those in Accra, for some months now have been hit by a devastating shortage of LPG, which has led to many households resorting to the use of charcoal. And it seems there is no end in sight to the spectacle of Ghanaians carrying gas cylinders from one end of the city to the other in search of the elusive commodity for now. This follows the explanation by government that the country lacks the capacity to increase its production, storage and distribution of LPG, a situation it blames on the erstwhile NPP government. Speaking on Metro TV�s Good Morning Ghana show, Kobby Acheampong said the NPP, when it took over power from the previous NDC administration, did not have the �presence of mind� to improve the LPG supply situation in the country. He accused the NPP of only being interested in grabbing state-owned properties for themselves. He, however, added that since the President Mills� led NDC administration has the interest of the nation and the welfare of the people at heart, every measure has been taken to ensure that the gas needs of the people are met. �The NDC government is adding to all the social interventions that the NPP started contrary to their propaganda that the NDC will collapse them,� he added.
