Earlier Explanation On Token Outhouse Could Have Been Better Okudzeto Ablakwa

Deputy Minister of Information, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has conceded that the initial information from official quarters regarding the construction of an outhouse for the security detail at President Mills private residence at Asanfra Street in the Platinum section of the Regimanuel Gray Estates on the Spintex Road could have been better communicated. The Searchlight newspaper, on Monday August 15th, published on its front-page with a screaming headline; Manifesting The Better GhanaMills Grabs Brand New Mansion! The publication was hotly contested by the presidency, albeit with some contradictions. Director of Communications at the Presidency, Koku Anyidoho, told Adom FM on Monday, August 15th that the out-house, not a mansion, was a token from the owners of Regimanuel Gray Estates Ltd, a private estate developer to be used by the guards of the president. as the land owners told the president that we will do a little extension at your backyard so the security men will have a better place of convenience. That is it; it is the developers, you can call Regimanuel Gray people and they will tell you they themselves have decided to build this as a token for the president, he said. But on Tuesday, after leading a team of journalists from the Presidential Press Corps to tour the facility which turned out to be a structure at the foundation level with contractors still pouring concrete on the floor, the Director of Communications at the Presidency clarified that Regimanuel Gray decided to put up the outhouse which comprises toilets, bath houses and a bedroom or two' after the President first brought up the idea. After reading copiously from a series of correspondence between the President and Regimanuel Gray on the construction of the facility, he further stated that Regimanuel Gray is bearing the initial cost and per the tenancy agreement, the president, would make good the repayment to Regimanuel Gray. He also vowed to take on media houses which published the story, including PeaceFM and Peacefmonline.com In an interview with Shamima Muslim on Citi FMs Eye Witness News, the Deputy Information Minister said: We should admit that we are all human beings, we can make mistakeswe are all fallible and there is a fallibility aspect to our being.let us not jump on peoples fallibility to justify a clear mischief I agree that it could have been better, the initial communication could have been betterthat I will concede, he said. He, however, accused the media of mischief in publishing the story with an image unrelated to the facility. We dont have an argument herewhat we should be worried about is that websites and other media houses puts out an edifice portraying the Presidents mansion; meanwhile, that is not the case. Where is the mansion? he asked.
