Prez Mills Has Disrespected Ghanaians John Boadu

A Deputy Director of Communications for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, says he wants to strongly believe that President Evans Atta Mills recent remark that he will hand over power in 2017 instead of his constitutionally mandated first four year term which ends on January 7, 2013, was a complete slip of tongue or an omission. John Boadu believes President Mills meant to say he would hand over power peacefully in 2012 but not 2017. He believes the President was simply trying to be witty since he cannot on his life believe President Mills sought to say there would be elections in 2012 or if he loses the elections in 2012 he will not hand over power or perhaps he (Mills) feels 2012 is a foregone conclusion. Otherwise his remarks are a recipe for disaster, he says. The 2012 polls will be Ghanas sixth General Elections in the 4th Republic and will mark another watershed in the political history of the country if it passes without any eventualities. On Thursday, August 18, President Mills assured Ghanaians of a free and fair elections come December 2012. Addressing the 3rd General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EP) in Ho, President Mills said he took over from his predecessor, ex-President Kufuor, peacefully and will ensure nothing is done to disturb the peace in the country, but however gave a strong indication that he will win the 2012 elections.
