Kufuor Okays Nana Addos Listening Tour

FORMER PRESIDENT John Agyekum Kufour has given Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo thumbs up on his Listening Tour, urging him to do more. He said the NPP flag-bearers initiative would propel him to victory in 2012 judging from what he had seen so far. Nana has well-formulated policies for the people of Ghana. You cant get to know the problems of the people without going to them. I urge Nana to continue with his good work. The ex-President gave the advice when traders union of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from Kaneshie Market in Accra called on him at his residence at the Airport Residential Area to congratulate him on his World Food Programme Award. President Kufour said Nana Akufo-Addo should not worry about what his political opponents, especially the NDC, were saying about him and go ahead to articulate his vision and plans for the country so that in 2012, the people of Ghana would elect him as the president of the country. It is clear that the NDC had failed to deliver on their numerous campaign promises and it is about time the NPP worked hard to unseat them from office. Just look at the laudable policies we put in place when we were in office. The free maternity healthcare, national health insurance, school feeding programme, mass transportation programme, impressive infrastructural projects, model schools concept and many others are at near collapse under the NDC, he stated. It is therefore important for the NPP leadership and the numerous supporters to work hard to sensitize Ghanaians on the haphazard manner in which the NDC is running the country so that the public will appreciate the value of the NPP and return them into office. You should not make a mistake to allow the NDC to succeed in throwing dust into your eyes as they did when we were in office. What you have to do is to join Nana Akufo-Addo to sensitize Ghanaians on the good policies of the NPP and explain to the people how the NDC has failed to address the plight of the people, he added. The ex-President taunted the NDC, saying they lacked the requisite skills to manage the country. Let the people be aware that not all people have managerial skills or not all people can rule a nation. That is the main reason NDC is unable to fulfill its campaign promises and implement other policies. Look at what is happening currently. Everybody is complaining about hardship and there is hope for the future. We just have to support the NPP to come back to redeem us from our current predicament, he noted. President Kufuor recalled how in 2008, the NDC used propaganda to attract votes and also objected to every good policy that the NPP tried to do, saying, Everybody can stand up and talk but those who are able to fulfill pledges are those to be taken serious. Next year you should work hard to make Ghanaians understand that even if NDC have policies, they do not know how to implement them, he said. He said NDC foot-soldiers were messing up peoples lives but the authorities had sat unconcerned and it was an indication that the NDC had failed and should be shown the exit through the ballot in 2012
