Mills Joins Muslims To Mark Eid-Ul-Fitr

President John Evans Atta Mills has called for unity and oneness among Ghanaians especially as the country prepares for general elections next year. Speaking at the National Prayers at the Independence Square, Accra to mark this years Eid-Ul-Fitr celebrations, President Mills assured Muslims and for that matter the country that the government will ensure that there is a free and fair election. He urged all and sundry to be measured in their speech because; as he put it, Ghana is the only country we have. We will ensure that we have a free and fair election and we must be mindful of what we say or doGhana is the only country we have and all of us are also creations of Allah. For this reason we must not divide the nationI identify with ideas that bind all of us together as one he said. Wishing Muslims a festive season, he also urged the Hajj Committee to ensure that this years pilgrimage to Mecca is a success. He assured Muslims that government is ready to do anything within its powers to ensure that they have a successful pilgrimage. The organization of the annual pilgrimage of Muslims to Mecca has been rocked by severe challenges in the past and on many occasions the Hajj Board has had to fall on government to assist in the organization. National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharabutu, has also admonished Muslims to fight for unity and love and avoid back-biting. He said they should do all they can to follow the precepts of Prophet Mohammed and by so doing their success will be assured.
