NDC Boss Bombs Zita... Primaries Is Not Beauty Contest

The Parliamentary ambition of the former Information Minister, Mrs. Zita Saba, is in danger following what appears to be a direct attack on her by her Partys Dome-Kwabenya constituency chairman, Alhaji Basit, at the campaign launch of one Mr. Isaac Adama. According to Alhaji Basit, political primaries are entirely different from a beauty contest and that if the former Information Minster thinks she would use her beauty and gender as a campaign tool, then she should re-think her strategy. Some are saying the NPP have a candidate who is beautiful, so we should also the same, but no, we have to elect someone who would not abandon the Party because he or she has been given a position in government, he said. The acrimony between Zita and her constituency chairman date back to 2009 when the former campaigned against the latter in his bid to become chairman. Unfortunately, Zitas preferred choice Ato Ampah lost the race. The two personalities have since not been the best of friends. Four people have picked up forms to contest the Dome-Kwabenya primaries on the ticket of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC). Though the race is between Adama and Zita, Sophia Karen Akuaku and Isaac Afum are no pushovers. Speaking at the launch of his campaign, Mr. Adama urged party members to remain united and support President Mills to deliver the Better Ghana Agenda. Over the past two years, he said, the government has done well and advised NDC followers not to be swayed by the propaganda machinery of the NPP. Mr. Adama pledged to work hard to capture the Dome-Kwabenya seat which has been under the control of the NPP since 2004. He reiterated his love and support for the NDC and said he will never abandon the party or its members when given the nod to lead the party.
