Nana Addo Needs To Be Housed In A Rehab Centre - Daily Post Editor

Editor of the Daily Post newspaper, Mike Dokosi, has posited that Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) needs to be housed in a rehabilitation Centre rather than gunning for the presidency following what he (Dokosi) describes as a vindication of his earlier publication by whistle-blower website, WikiLeaks. The Daily Post newspaper published a couple of weeks ago that "Nana Akufo-Addo smokes marijuana" and that the one-time Attorney-General was once busted at the JFK airport for possession of wee. According to the publication, when he (Nana) was questioned about the presence of the substance in his luggage, he (Nana) said it was for medicinal purposes. My position still remains the samewe still stand by the two allegations that have been made. The first one was that he (Nana) was the one who was arrested with wee in his possession, and the second being that he smokes weeThe question is, does he smoke marijuana? We are answering that he smokes marijuana which makes him unfit to handle a high position in the country. Certainly we stand by our story that he was the one who was arrested at John F. Kennedy airport," Dokosi said in subsequent interviews on the matter. Commenting on the recent WikiLeaks report which touches on the character of the NPP flagbearer and other leading personalities in the country, Mike Dokosi stressed that the future of the country cannot be left in the hands of someone who wakes up with a cloud of marijuana smoke swirling around him. Leaked diplomatic cables from the US Embassy in Accra by the whistle-blowing website, WikiLeaks quoting former United States Ambassador to Ghana, Pamela Bridgewater as the source and profiling NPP presidential aspirants ahead of the 2008 elections described the NPP flagbearer as: an ethnic Akyem from the Eastern RegionAkufo-Addo is a formidable contender for the NPP slot. He is respected for his intelligence, political family background, and broad government experience, which includes tenures as Minister of Justice and Minister of Foreign Affairs. He is reportedly backed by NPP youth and Akyem businessmen. On the other hand, he has poor organizational skills and often comes across as arrogant and formal, which may not play well with many party activists and Ghanaian voters. His reputation as a womanizer and occasional marijuana smoker may also damage him politically. Speaking to the issue in an interview on Radio Gold during the Gold Newspaper Review, the Daily Post newspaper Editor said the report is more or less a validation of his earlier assessment of Nana Akufo Addo. I will believe that right now what Akufo Addo needs is not the presidency, he needs to go into a rehabilitation Centre to be rehabilitatedif such a person becomes president of Ghana when we are told he wakes up with a cloud of marijuana smoke around him, and he is supposed to take a decision in the morning that is related to National Security, what is he going to say? Somebody who will be in a state of euphoria; can we trust him with the future of this country...we think that those who care for him, party members and family members should be helping him to go to a rehab Centre rather than gunning for the presidency, he said. He further surmised that if Nana Addo is allowed to steer the affairs of the nation with this public knowledge of his marijuana smoking habits, then it is safe to assume that most of his confidantes will be chain smokers of the herb. whoever occupies the highest seat in the country should be somebody with a sound mind, but for someone to wake up with clouds of marijuana around him he cannot occupy that seat. What kind of example is he going to be for the youth of this country as a role model? he asked.
