Charles Takyi has broken his silence over a reported move to promoted German Bundesliga side Augsburg in the summer.
Augsberg coach Andreas Rettig was a huge admirer of the midfielder and had wanted to whisk him away from the club.
St Pauli�s relegation from the Bundesliga comes in conjunction with Augsburg�s promotion to the top flight
It was feared the Hamburg-based club may struggle to hold onto Takyi.
But Rettig was put off by a �600,000 price tag on him.
Takyi has revealed he never wanted to leave the club.
�I�ve always enjoyed playing for St. Pauli. I never said that I want to leave. I want to play for regularly to get a place in the Ghana national team. There is nothing wrong over here,� the 26-year-old said.
�It�s now time for a fresh start. I�m here at at St. Paul with my head and heart.�
